新型車のワールドプレミアをゲーム内で行なうのは珍しい。ニード・フォー・スピード・アンダーカバーの発売は北米で11月18日、欧州で11月21日、日本では12月18日となっている。いっぽう370Zの実車は、11月19日、ロサンゼルスモーターショーで披露され、2009年初めにディーラー店頭に並ぶ。
ニード・フォー・スピード・アンダーカバーは『Xbox 360』、『PS3』、『PS2』、『PSP』、『DS』、オンラインに対応する。
